Sharing from the WORD

As some of you may already know, I (Jenny) picked the Bible passages this week. 1 John 4:8 says that "anyone who does not love does not know God". When I first heard this verse last year (I wasn't Christian then), I was mildly terrified. Why does God consider love to be the most important aspect in getting to know Him? The reason why love is so important to God is simple: it's because God loves each and every one of us. He sees us as his precious children, as immortal souls with whom He can have meaningful relationships. Once we realize that this is how God views people, isn't the logical extrapolation that we should also view people in that way? God asks us to love one another as he loves us; 1 John 4:21 says that "this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother".

1 John helped me realize that Christianity isn't centered around religion, but around relationship - more specifically, a loving relationship between God and His people.

"For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another" 1 John 3:11

Love,

Jenny
