Wow, the sophomores were awesome! Last Friday, all their hard work for the last few weeks finally paid off as the Klesis sophomores combined with their friends from MakeNew and A2F to put on the highly-anticipated Sophomore-Hosted TFN: The Greatest Story. You know those movies that are really hyped up, and then beat the hype? This was that.
The sophomores had everything: song, dance, laughs, drama. And it was all done for the sake of depicting the story in the Bible about who God is and what He did in the person of Jesus. With hilarious, dramatic, and heartbreaking small skit scenes, the sophomores were able to address some common misconceptions about Christianity and God, while shedding light on what Christians believe.

What’s a show without a little dancing?
Just as any meaningful relationship has boundaries, like a married couple, God’s relationship with Christians naturally has some built-in limits, out of love. And it’s actually those boundaries that make the relationship meaningful!
Bride thinks marriage is just doing whatever, whenever? Poor fella…
Even though He could, it could be that God chooses not to reveal Himself so directly in order not to overwhelm people, instead letting humans have the chance to get to know him more personally. Even an awesome TV star might need to disguise himself to get to know the girl of his dreams, to actually relate with her!

A son rejecting his relationship with his parents is tragic, but the Bible says that’s what people have done by pushing God out of their lives, and the Bible calls it sin, which creates a gap between people and God.
“Mom, can’t you see I’m busy slaying the goblin of the green woods with my sword of doom and my crossbow of awesomeness?!?!”
One way to deflect questions and issues about sin the Bible addresses is through playing the victim card or trying to claim standards are subjective. We can see these issues play themselves out in our own day-to-day lives, shown through skit scenes with some roommate and sibling arguments.
Oh, the pain! The horror!
Hole? What hole?
In order to bridge the gap between God and people created by sin, God did something unimaginable, by sending his own perfect son in the form of Jesus Christ to pay the debt of people’s sins, so the relationship between sinful humans and a perfect God could be restored. Through Jesus, God completely forgives people of their sins. That’s why Christians call the gospel, “The Good News” or “The Greatest Story.”

But what does it take to forgive? The person who’s been hurt needs to offer forgiveness, of course. Yet the one who is in the wrong needs to accept that he has done something wrong. A father who walked out on his wife and daughter twenty years ago can’t be forgiven by his family until he accepts his failures.
Twenty years is a long time, mister…
To wrap up the night, some of the actors on stage stepped out of character to share with us a little bit of their past, what their spiritual backgrounds were, and how they came to the conclusion that the gospel truly is, The Greatest Story. After that, we were treated to an awesome rendition of “The Gospel", as we were reminded of what God has done already through this good news.
And of course, there’s always room for one more group song and dance, with all the sophs giving praise to God!
After one of the most rousing performances any of us have ever seen, the Klesis frosh and seniors headed off to Koin House for a night of Halloween fun and mischief. Whether it was trying to catch swords in our hands to stop them from hitting our heads…
Or crawling on all fours around the room, “bobbing” for apples…
Or even using the light and darkness in game of “Shadow Charades”…
It was a great time just hanging out afterwards. We also played ghostbusters in the pitch black with foam swords, creepy green glowsticks and really creepy music. No pictures though, because it was all in the dark :(
