VISION Session I Recap!

As Vision Session II is about to start, let's take a look back at everything that happened during Session I! By the numbers...

120+ students from over half a dozen campuses

Students flew in from all over the country! We met new friends from GMU, CMU, Pitt, Rutgers, UNC, UT Austin, and Minnesota. It was strengthening to meet our brothers- and sisters-in-Christ from various church plants, and it reminded us why it's so worthwhile to keep going out and sharing the gospel, to all parts of the world.

Berkeley campus tour, led by Ander. It’s been awhile since he’s been in these parts, but at least he remembered that Dwinelle was intentionally designed in a wonky fashion.

SAGE RAGE. Tim looks like Superman in flight, if we try very hard to ignore the fact that he’s held up by George and Caleb.

45+ hours of workshops

We got the privilege of receiving training from staff and pastors from all over our church! Life skills helped us tackle things like car maintenance, cooking, resume workshopping/interviewing, and more. Other workshops honed our critical thinking skills, enabled us to wisely navigate crucial conversations, and opened our eyes to all the sacrifices people made to preserve the gospel during the 16th-century Christian Reformation.

We also got to pick up a variety of artistic, musical, and technical skills, through workshops on everything from scriptwriting to soundmixing. For many of us, a major highlight of Vision was either the Bible book studies on Acts, 1 Corinthians, and prophets, or else the studies on Mark or C101. These sessions challenged us to wield God's Word with insight and passion, and really opened our eyes to more of the beauty, richness, and truth of the Bible.

3 Vision projects

We were split up into six different tribes with uber-epic names; Klesis was split between the Iron and Sage tribes. During the middle of Vision, we took a trip to our Santa Cruz church. A lot of DC outreach, video surveying, and other campus outreach shenanigans later, we held a Bible study on purpose in life. Thank God for the 20+ new students that came!

Making our hands look like banana slugs. We didn’t see a single banana slug on our trip. :(

Outreach by the beech. Jk, that’s not a beech.

Thank God as well for the chance to co-labor with not only our friends at Santa Cruz, but also our other friends from NC and Minnesota. Outreach seems daunting no matter how many times you've done it before, but I'm so grateful that we got to reach out together and work hard for the Lord. (:

Yep, so that was Vision! During the two weeks, our staff went all out to not only put on incredibly enriching workshops, but also feed 120+ perpetually hungry students, handle all the crazy logistics, and host us in their homes with immense warmth and generosity.

We have learned much and received much, and now let's give our all as we head back to our respective homes and campuses. Let's pass on what we've been entrusted with, and continue to have bold visions for how God will work this year!
