Monterey!
- Chris L. -
This past weekend, the Klesis frosh and seniors (along with some runaway juniors), made our way down to beautiful Monterey House for a getaway! It was a great opportunity to get out of the stress of Berkeley and just hang out and have fun.
Late night Friday, we had about zero intention of going to sleep for the next few hours. Instead, we stayed up til the wee hours of the night, terrifying each other in pitch black. Whether it was shining flashlights in each other’s faces or busting some ghosts with foam swords, there were quite a few shouts of terror in the night of Monterey. And of course, we finished with all-out laser tag war. Oh, and there was so much late night ramen and dessert. So much…
The next morning, after a hearty, good old-fashioned American brunch, we set off for Point Lobos to walk off some of the food we had been stuffing our faces with. Only one problem…
The on-and-off rain that hit Monterey ended up rerouting our group over to a nearby beach instead of Point Lobos, but we still had a blast, walking along the shoreline. Of course, with the water right there, it was only a matter of time before somebody was getting soaked with some nice, cold, salty ocean water.
The trip was not without its costs though, as we managed to lose a football into the ocean, but we had a blast hanging out on the beach, as pebbly as it was.
Afterwards, it was back to the house for cooking our Chinese New Year dinner! With 25 pairs of hands hard at work, we went from this…
to this…
to this!! Happy New Year! 新年快乐!
After stuffing our faces for the third time on the trip, we sadly bade farewell to Monterey House, as we drove back up to Berkeley, back to real-life and midterms and CS projects. Until next time!
